Imagine this: it’s a Monday morning, the Wi-Fi is down, load-shedding is on the schedule, and you’re about to face 40 restless learners — some ready to learn, others… not so much. The clock is ticking, the syllabus isn’t getting any shorter, and you can already feel your energy being pulled in ten different directions.

This is the reality of teaching in South Africa in 2025. And yet — here you are, still showing up, still trying to give your learners the best education possible. That’s why this book exists.

We’ve moved beyond the information age. Your learners now live in the entertainment age — a world of 15-second TikTok bursts, instant memes, and infinite scrolling.

About the Author

CW Fourie is a South African developer, author, and school governing body leader with a passion for bringing technology and education together. For more than two decades, he has worked in software development, building everything from AI-powered recruitment platforms to IoT and CCTV monitoring systems. Known for his precision and practical approach, he insists that every project he delivers is complete, tested, and production-ready.

Beyond his professional work, CW has played an active role in education since 2018 as a member of the School Governing Body at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Sasolburg. During this time, he has served as Deputy Chairperson, chaired multiple committees, and led the school’s COVID-19 response team. His leadership reflects his belief in fairness, inclusivity, and the right of every learner to quality education in the language of their choice.

His book, AI in Education: A Practical, Ethical Guide for South African Classrooms, is the first guide written specifically for South African educators. It provides CAPS-aligned, classroom-ready strategies to help educators teach in today’s “entertainment age,” where TikTok, YouTube, and social media shape how learners absorb information. Written in a warm, conversational style, the book equips educators with tools to engage learners more effectively and prepare them for the future.

When he isn’t coding, writing, or serving on the SGB, CW enjoys spending time with his wife and children, who keep him grounded and inspired.
